Bikinis, one piece swimsuits, and monkinis ran rampant at this years’ Miami swim show. This show, which occurs yearly in July, sets the tone for the 2011 designer swimwear collections that Canyon Beachwear carries. Why talk about this now, well the designer swimwear on the catwalks in July is now starting to arrive at Canyon Beachwear.

The 2011 collections show colors that are uplifting, that excite, energize and soften at the same time. Besides basic colors, spectacular palettes of purple tones, blues, aquas and turqouises make us think of the beautiful oceans. Bright yellows, pinks and oranges give us the feeling of having fun at the beach or pool. There are mixes of prints that gave the swimsuit a more unique feeling and look.

Tribal and ethnic prints were shown throughout the show as well as fun classical prints. Animal prints resurfaced with a very vintage flair, however, ladies, you know what Ilene always says:"there is nothing better than the perfect black swimsuit.", and we have just received Robin Piccone’s 2011 collection, filled with very stylish black swimsuits and beachwear.

Aside from fashion forward hardware on many of the suits, the 2011 swimwear collections had lots of ruffles and shirring. Styles included bandeaus, halter and triangle tops coupled with either brazillian, moderate or skirted bikini bottoms. As collections arrive with us, I will give you an introduction to them so you have a chance to understand how they can fit into your beachwear style.    

The beautiful shirred one piece swimsuits which are not only flattering but very highly styled continue as an important direction for 2011. And let’s not forget our coverup that offers just the right amount of coverage and gives the customer that great sophisticated retro feeling.

Light and airy coverups at the show were very elegant with classic style dresses and tunics being marched down the runways. There was also a variety of matching coverups for some of the one piece swimsuits and bikinis. The dual purpose coverup was shown so that ladies could wear them out to lunch or dinner with a cute camisole or tank top underneath if they choose. Coverups ranged from the cute summer dress to the fashionable beach pants that give the customer an alternative look. Board Shorts and Rashgaurds designed especially for women were also shown for the sportier customer going on a diving or sailing escapade.

In accessories, whimsical and retro picture bags were shown besides from the classic straw beach totes. Lots of oversized, dramatic hats and cowboy hats always make the outfit fun. And, of course, flip flops are a necessity.

Did you ever get that telephone call first thing in the morning, before you had your first cup of coffee, from your boss telling you that there has been a change of schedule? Instead of our casual Friday day at work, an important client is coming in and wants to have a meeting with you and the company execs. At that point we rummage for something to wear instead of the clothes we picked out the night before. Then we take a deep breath, and we remember our black "go to" skirt suit. Well ladies it’s the same thing for our swimwear wardrobe. The black swimsuit, whether it’s a bikini or one piece, is your "go to" suit.

When I was reviewing the 2011 designer swimwear collections this summer, Robin Piccones collection stood out, with fabulously fitting and beautiful black suits, which are sold as one piece suits, and separates, (where all of the tops and bottoms are made to be worn interchangeably), allowing ladies to have more or less coverage to suit their own style. What impressed me most was that the fit on the Robin Piccone’s is masterful and the fabric is extremely comfortable

What I would like to do now is introduce you to the Piccone swimwear that Canyon Beachwear has now received for 2011.        

Firstly tops, with bandeau, halter, and tankini tops available, we have whatever style suits your body. The bandeau top offered is pleated and molded. So for the smaller cup lady if offers a look that will enhance the bust and give definition. For the fuller cup woman it offers support and does have a strap that is optional to wear around the neck.

Robin Piccones classic halter style fits most cup sizes, it has the tie around the neck and back for adjustability and a removable pad that gives the suit more support and structure. The tie in the front gives an elegant appearance.

This season Piccone has created two tankini tops. A pleated bandeau style tankini and an open back halter tankini. The molded cup bandeau tankinis has all the features of the bikini top but the tankini offers shirring through the middle to hide all evils. The open back tankini is the closest thing to wearing a bikini, with the open back giving you an airy as well as sexy feeling.  Like the bikini top it ties at the neck and back for versatility.

As far as bottoms go, Robin offers a wide variety of different styles for 2011. Let’s start with the classic loop tie bikini bottom, it sits low with pleats on the front, and has more back coverage then the average string but is definitely not conservative. There is also a pleated side tab hipster bottom, this is great because it doesn't pinch on the side of the women’s bottom because of the side tie, and also offers just the perfect amount of coverage. The high waisted banded classic bottom in the collection offers the most coverage, it has a top band that you can pull up or roll over for style.

The 2011 Robin Piccone collection that Canyon Beachwear carries also has beautiful one pieces. The halter one piece with pleats is a fabulous swimsuit which will fit many customers perfectly. It has a low back with a tie to give the woman support, and a great moderate leg line. Put a Robin Piccone coverup with it and you are all set. Now let’s look at some of the styles individually.  The Pisa and Brussel styles are Melissa Odabash's signature suits. The Pisa style is a halter with slight rouching around the bust and a beautiful tortoise shell rectangle middle piece. The bottom is a classic low rise and has two tortoise shells on each side that lay perfectly at the hip bone. 

Her next signature style is the Brussels, this is an underwire halter style, rouched on the bust so you do not see the underwire. It also has a beautiful, stylish ring in the middle.  Ladies, the great thing about this suit is that it fits fuller bra sizes. You can be a C cup, D cup or DD cup and fit this top. The bottom is a simple classic hipster style, not too skimpy and not too full in the coverage.                

 If you want a head turning look, try the St Barts. This beautiful nautical has a striped padded triangle top with small rings for detail, and a thin side bottom with the same matching silver rings. This suit can fit A, B cups, and small C cups when you take the padding out. Couple it with the matching style London coverup and you have a fantastic sexy duet.  The London style is a long sleeve more fitted coverup made of a meryl and lycra spandex.  It hugs the body to show off your fantastic figure. The St Barts also comes in two exquisite prints in either the peacock coral or peacock purple.

The other dynamic duo you can try is the Evita style in the classic Melissa Odabash Cheetah print.  This is a tie back bandeau, so ladies no tan lines, with a removable strap.  It has a beautiful detailed gold ring in the middle to give the suit style and structure. The bottom is a double detailed ring that matches the top of the suit. The Coleen coverup is a ling caftan style made of a gorgeous Italian silk gives even more elegance to the look. But don’t worry ladies, if you don’t want the cheetah print, the Evita style comes in beautiful solid colors or you can wear the Coleen over any color suit. The Melissa suits with the detail on the bottoms do not pinch because of the beautiful Italian fabric she uses and because of where it sits on the hip.  

Other styles in her collection include her two piece Casablanca style. This is a banded halter style with a movable decorative slide. It ties around the neck and back for versatility and adjustability. The top, which is not padded, fits most cup sizes. The best feature about this suit is the skirted retro rouched bottom. It provides the fullest coverage but could also be worn as a high waisted bottom with rouching on top.  

The Jamaica halter style suit has a beautiful “U" shaped decorative middle piece and a cinched side bottom.  The top is banded and has a tie around the neck and back and fits most cup sizes.
The bottom has moderate coverage and will not pinch in the hip because of that cinched side.  

On to the bikinis, ladies, what would the Melissa Odabash collection be without a cute skimpier string bikini? To satisfy your crave she has designed the St Kits style. This comes in solids and a slithering black snake print. Put on the Nia short black belted snake print coverup over that suit or any of the Odabash suits and you are ready for a day in the sun.

Let’s also not forget about Melissa Odabash's one piece swimwear, the Bahamas style is a sleek black bandeau rouched one piece. It has great support and fits most cup sizes and has a removable strap. It also is rouched throughout the whole suit to hide all tummy flaws. Melissa’s other one-piece style is the Rio. This is a halter style that ties around the neck. Again, it fits most cup sizes and is rouched throughout the suit to make your figure look slimmer.

Odabash coverups are not only used for the beach or pool, but can be worn with a cami underneath and over leggings or capris.
